I was equally confused. The answer is that disassembling the machine and cleaning the styrofoam cup does not fix the leak. But if you do all this AND mop up any water in the base, it does fix the error. And that’s usually enough.
The instructions for Error E01 are equally bad. Apparently, the way to fix a problem with the power harness is, I quote, to: “simply disconnect all the wire harnesses from the power module. This should fix the error and your Bosch dishwasher should begin to function correctly after that”.It’s a shame – this page is so close to being brilliant, but instead it’s just useless. I get many codes, the latest 09.
I have read to disconnect or trip the breaker for 5 minutes. For what I paid for this hyped-up piece of junk, I should not be having any problem. It is less than 4 years old and I have had numerous problems. The silver “plastic trim piece” over the door handle has cracked twice. I had it replaced once and now have again used crazy glue to put it back in place. I will not sink another $ into trying to resolve issues with this machine, but will purchase another brand as soon as it quits, which most likely be soon. I am very disappointed with this Bosch considering they are rated high.
Concur with Linda and Chris, Bosch is JUNK. My dishwasher is less than two years old and I have had numerous error codes. The repair service came out while it was still under warranty, but it took them WEEKS to schedule because they were so backed up. I only run light loads and I scrape everything off and rinse before using the dishwasher but it still doesn’t clean. E-22 clog error anyway this is the worst piece of junk I’ve ever bought.
Never ever again with Bosch, they are like Mercedes Benz. Very expensive and unreliable German Junk.
Interesting to hear this. Actually mine will be 3 years old in February 2018. Ten months in it threw me a code, think it was 22.
The handle has cracked twice and now I have had an 09 code for the last 8 months. Dishes come out dirtier than when they went in and I rinse them first.
I called the company and was told to reach out to them for some type of assistance with the cost. I was told I had to schedule a service call so they could diagnose.
Thought that was the purpose of the code appearing. The service call is around $100 and then they will decide if I qualify for assistance, then the technician will return to fix it. If they won’t help then I am out approximately $250-300. I plan on getting a new floor and this dishwasher will go to the garage.
If I can’t unload it for $50, then it’s next stop will be the curb!
Flexible FittingsThe height of both countertops and dishwashers can vary slightly. Mounting brackets, along with installation methods, are somewhat flexible to allow for the difference.
The tops of the two metal clips screw to the bottom side of the cabinet fascia, which is the horizontal perimeter around the cabinets. It's a simple procedure when everything fits. After mounting the brackets to the appliance, just slide the dishwasher back, and screw them to the countertop. If they don't fit, or the brackets don't seem long enough, make some adjustments or additions.
Clips and LipsMost dishwashers use small metal tabs or clips for installation. There are two types, one that fits into a slot on the top of the dishwasher, locking it in place, and the other sporting an oval-shaped tab on the end. The latter type bends around a small horizontal bar on the top of the dishwasher. Both types have holes on the opposite ends for the countertop screws. To begin with the installation, turn off the power to the dishwasher and open the door.
Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your type of clips. Once you've attached the clips, slide the dishwasher back into the opening. The top of the clips should be within 1/2 inch or touching the bottom of the fascia. If not, there are a couple of simple solutions. Bend and ShapeSimply bend the clip to fit flat under the fascia on the cabinet.
That's all there is to it. Use a pair of pliers or even your fingers to bend it flat so that the holes in the top of the clip fit somewhat flat against the bottom.
Drive some screws in, and the clip should bend as the screws sink in deeper. Use 3/4- to 1-inch-long screws. The clips should fit snug but not so tight as to strip out or lift the dishwasher. There should be several different screw hole options. If possible, move the screws to a different hole to relieve some of the upward pressure on the clip.
In a pinch, you can even remove the clips and drill another hole to add a more length. Spaces for BracesIf your clips are way too short, don't fret. There's an easy fix to this problem. Bend the clip as much as reasonably possible, and slide the dishwasher back into its desired location. Measure the distance between the top of the bent clip and the bottom of the fascia board. Cut a piece of scrap wood to the measurement or width.
It doesn't have to be much; a 1 1/2-inch-long block is fine. Slide the dishwasher back out. Screw the blocks to the underside of the fascia to act as a buffer or spacer.
Slide the dishwasher back into the opening and screw the top of the clips to the blocks. Professional installers do it this way all the time when the two components don't match up.

WARNING: Before you start your repair, be sure to disconnect the power to the dishwasher. You can do this by either unplugging the power cord or at the fuse box.CAUTION: Internal parts may have sharp edges that can cause serious cuts. Please use caution and wear heavy gloves if possible. Start by opening the dishwasher door. Locate and remove the screws at the top portion of the inner door that hold the control panel assembly in place. Next, lift the door back into place, without engaging the door latch. The control housing can be pulled away from the top of the door.
Do not pull too hard as there are internal wires that you do not want to damage. You will need to disconnect the wires at the connectors and the ribbon cables. Always pull at the connectors and not on the wires themselves. I recommend either labeling the wires or taking a photo before you disconnect anything. That will make reconnecting the wires easier later. To remove the control board, use a flat screwdriver to depress the tabs around the edges that hold it in place. I recommend wrapping the screwdriver with a piece of tape to keep from scratching up the panel. I have included the link to order the fascia panel, in case you haven’t done that yet.
